Renewable energy is essential for sustainable logistics. At Kuehne+Nagel, it’s crucial to use renewable energy to promote progress and development. We’ve taken many systematic steps to seek energy from such sources. For us, energy management is global, comprehensive, and extends beyond energy efficiency efforts in warehouses and buildings. It is a team effort guided and informed by the global environmental policy. Our energy management responsibilities are coordinated by the corporate energy team. This team involves personnel from Corporate Procurement, QSHE and Facility Management. Each department provides cross-functional contributions, ensuring that:
- Energy efficient technology is in use
- Opportunities that allow us to use alternative energy are identified in the design process
- Renewable energy opportunities are realised and financed, and
- Data is tracked routinely and consistently by facilities.
We are committed to continuously evolving our processes and technology – we want to make them more sustainable for the environment. Every year, we try to figure out new, innovative ways to use renewable sources, and will continue to do so in the future.
